Travel

Valladolid Airport, ten kilometres north-west of the city, offers mainly domestic services. However, high-speed AVE train services connect the city with Madrid in as little as 56 minutes.

Climate

The city has dry, hot Mediterranean summers averaging around 30oC / 86oF with cold, windy winters including regular snow and freezing temperatures often reaching -8 degrees due to its altitude and inland location.

Food & Drink

The main regional speciality is suckling baby lamb (lechazo), slowly roasted in a wood oven. Valladolid is also known for producing different breads for every dish. Excellent wines are produced in nearby Rueda (white) and Ribera del Duero (red). There are many restaurants serving delicious tapas.
